The Problem

Currently, the QA is manually monitoring the activities during Inspection (ex., using word document and excel sheet). The expectation of the Client is to automate the system and enhance the user experience.

The Solution

To design a system which is user friendly and smart to the QA for monitoring the activities in one stop and take any necessary actions if required.

The Approach:

To understand the business requirements, have started with the stakeholder interviews. Have distributed a questionnaire with existing QAs (number of users - 98) to understand how the current system works, pain points and user preferences towards the developing the new system.

Based on the inferences from the above methods, have developed Persona which consists of User demographics, needs, goals and pain points faced in the current system.

User Journey was developed for key tasks to understand how the user will interact with the system on various stages of School Inspection. This was validated with the sample corresponding users/product owners in a Focus group

Identified Key Tasks:

  • Assess School risks before Inspection
  • Assess Inspectors identified before Inspection. Replace Inspectors if required.
  • Monitor Inspection progress in the School (field)
  • Review Inspection Team Performance
  • Review inspection Report for the Schoo

Mind map was developed to understand the big picture of the system.

Card sorting was conducted with the users to group the relevant information (derived from MindMap) according to user preferences. The sitemap of the application was developed as the UX deliverable.

Wireframes with medium fidelity were designed based on the user flow. These click-through prototypes were tested with the 5 users and have implemented the findings in the design.

Overall usability of the system was good. Users were satisfied with the proposed system.
